Life Along the Streetcar with Tom Heath from The Heath Team Nova Home Loans

This week, we’re going to speak with Robin Hunn. She’s a New Orleans native who fell in love with Tucson’s local music scene. She moved here and is promoting it in what she calls, the Tucson Vibe. Through her new book and a collection of local recordings on her accompanying CD, she’s raising money for our local artists.

Today is May 23th, my name is Tom Heath and you’re listening to “Life Along the Streetcar”.

Each and every Sunday our focus is on Social, Cultural and Economic impacts in Tucson’s Urban Core and we shed light on hidden gems everyone should know about. From A Mountain to the U of A and all stops in between. You get the inside track- right here on 99.1 FM, streaming on DowntownRadio.org– we’re also available on your iPhone or Android using our very own Downtown Radio app.

Our intro music is by Ryanhood and we exit with music from Miss Olivia and the Interlopers, “Message in a Bottle.” We’re going to start today’s show with news of some sunshine.

Interview with Robin Hunn on the Tucson Vibe

Our feature for today’s show is also taking shape in the form of a new spotlight on our local music scene. Robin Hunn fell in love with Tucson. She was walking around Downtown and Fourth Avenue when this New Orleans native and musician was pulled into the small bars and clubs offering live music. Robin ended up moving to Tucson and soon after began exploring these local venues and has now created a book to celebrate 15 of them, and also has a CD with the local artists who play in those venues. Started in 2019 and was released in April of 2020. It’s called the Tucson Vibe and it’s become a way for Robin to give back to those artists who were struggling through the pandemic. We had a chance to sit down and speak with her a couple days ago to find out how this Hidden Gem of a book is highlighting these hidden gems in our Urban Music Scene.
