For the 10th year of the Tucson Festival of Books, the Rock Bottom Remainders, a rock band of famous authors will be playing a free show on Saturday March 10th following the close of the Festival’s activities. The band consists of several top authors, including Stephen King, who has actually retired from his rock career and won’t be at this year’s festival. The concert is free this year and we’ll link to details. The Rock Bottom Remainders play a very limited engagement schedule and always do it as a way to promote literacy. For the most part they’ve been out of the lime light, but felt a need to get the band back together for this event in Tucson. What makes the Tucson Festival of Books so special to draw this talent pool? We sat down with steering committee member Darrell Durham to discuss its impact over the last 10 years.
In Darrell’s extended interview he discussed in more detail the founders’ vision and incredible partnerships developed with the UofA and Arizona Daily Star. He also shared more special moments and stories of his 10 plus years of volunteering with the Festival.
